Ann Friend, a 34 year Rockridge Manor resident, has passed

Ann was among the first owners after the Rockridge Manor apartments were converted into condos in 1985.

Ann’s younger brother, Bill, also lived in Rockridge Manor(in R1). Bill passed away on June 21, 2010.He was comfortable speaking to a large group, as evidenced by his participation at the HOA’s Annual Meetings.

Ann’s interests were the cinema(which she attended on a weekly basis). One of her favorite films was “The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill.” She also enjoyed watching “Nature” and shows about politics on PBS(she had their schedule memorized).

She volunteered for a number of worthy causes, including tutoring a disadvantaged Oakland student, taking calls (including Christmas morning!)to counsel people who were in the process of breaking bad habits, working at a Food Bank and distributing packages from the lobby to residents’ doors.

She thoroughly enjoyed living in our neighborhood and made the most of the varied offerings of the local restaurants.

Because of the Covid-19 restrictions, a date for a Memorial has not been set. Her ashes were sent to Plymouth, Massachusetts to be interred in her family’s plot. And so ends a long journey in miles and years but not in our hearts.

I have uploaded to YouTube a number of videos featuring Ann,here’s a link to one of them:

Sorry to hear Ann as passed away.  I did not know her well.  I knew her brother Bill who lived in R1 before his passing.  God bless their souls.  BJ
